I am really begining to feel the benefits of our sessions. Certainly I ache a little less in the morning. I loved the long arm stretches yesterday and the way my arms felt hanging so loosely. Will try to do them everyday!
Thank you Sarah

Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) established that 75% of its’ research into exercise demonstrated a significant clinical benefit on a range of cancer treatment side effects – physical, functional and psychosocial outcomes.
Regarding breast cancer in particular, it discussed the importance of including balance and flexibility to improve daily activity, while at the same time addressing the importance of behavior change techniques, goal setting, self–monitoring, exercise prescription and feedback.
We work on improving flexibility, range of movement and strength of the chest, back and shoulders, targeting key areas affected by treatment. Exercising post treatment/surgery, not only aids the recovery of the affected area and improves treatment side effects, it also provides support in regaining confidence to return to life pre Breast Cancer.
When clients are first diagnosed with breast cancer, many of them want to know “what can they do to help fight this disease?” and improve their survival rate and outcome. Research has shown exercise to be one of the biggest factors to improving treatment outcomes and long-term survival. But apart from the physical side effects of treatment, clients are often so overwhelmed by what they should do and shouldn’t do, exercise often takes a back seat. We will help you ease back into a gentle exercise routine.
Our clients have given feedback that it’s difficult to focus on an exercise plan when managing the side effects of treatment. Medical advice is to gently introduce some range of movement exercises for the first 6- 8 weeks post-surgery, giving the site time to heal. As with any exercise plan, it is important for clients to be signed off by their surgeon prior to commencing an exercise plan.
The program can be the first step you take towards returning to your pre-cancer life. Our in-depth assessment allows us to gather information about your situation, and also presents an opportunity for your fears and needs to be heard. We explain how we keep you safe, while also encouraging you to try movements you may have been avoiding. Keeping the class size small and the venue intimate creates a safe and calm environment you can be confident in.
Many women reported feeling very alone in their treatment journey. The Pink Ribbon Rehab class provides the opportunity to be in a room with a group of women experiencing something similar to themselves. Allowing time each week for clients to feedback how they were progressing not only provides support for each individual, but also helps motivate other class members. In essence, the class allows you to help provide emotional support to each other.

I rode my 8 year old granddaughters bike yesterday – hilarious! Although she is tall, bike was far too small for me, on bumpy grass, long dress tucked in knickers and had to have assistance getting off!! I’m putting that down as Sunday’s exercise.

Thank you so much Sarah, because of you and the Pink Ribbon programme I had the confidence and strength to achieve a personal milestone. I wanted to get back to my Zumba class which was the last thing I did before I found my lump … a year to the day I walked in proud with my little grey haircut and danced away! So chuffed to pieces, thank you!

My classes are held in and around Maidenhead. My 1:1 clients are predominately within a 5 mile radius but I am also offering classes via Zoom, for clients who prefer that approach, or are located further away.
