Myofasical release on mat with ball

Why combine myofascial release with Pilates?

Included in all my pilates classes, this technique releases tension in specific areas to help you move more freely; improve skeletal and muscular alignment and improve your overall movement.

Your questions, answered

We specialise in mat based Pilates and offer a range of classes for beginners and those who have been practising for a while, for expectant and new mums, for those in recover from injury or breast cancer, for kids and more. Contact me and I’ll be happy to advise of the most suitable class for your needs, your lifestyle and fitness level.

Pilates will help increase flexibility and build strength, through gentle controlled movements. Renowned for benefitting mental as well as physical health, anyone at any age can practice. It’s highly effective for rehab after an injury or trauma, for preparing the body for birth and recovering after it, and for all round general toning.

Myofascia release focuses on releasing the deep connective tissue which allows muscles, tendons and joints to move freely.

I specialise in the use of a Myofascial Release Ball, and have created a program which you can do yourself at home or along side classes or 1:1 training. The program is available to purchase to practice in your own time.

Many research studies have concluded that Pilates can be effective for relieving back pain. Pilates naturally improves core strength, increased muscle strength and flexibility, and improved posture – all of which will help keep your back supported. And we also recommend myofascial release – it’s great for releasing tension and stiffness. Please ensure you mention any specific back issues to your instructor and they can tailor your class accordingly.
